SEED PREPARATION
- Prepare seeds, planting soil, and gardening tools.
- Before planting, expose the soil to sunlight and sprinkle lime powder to control insects.
GARDENING TOOLS PREPARATION
- Gardening tools such as a hoe and a shovel for soil cultivation.
- Use a mist sprayer to water the plants when they are still young.
SEED SOWING
- Evenly spread the seedbed on the surface, cultivate the soil with a hoe, then cover the surface with soil, tarp, and plant new seeds.
The seeds need to be soaked in warm water (ratio of 2 hot : 3 cold) for about 5 hours. After that, scoop them out to drain and then let them sprout in cloth/fabric for about 4 days until the seeds crack open. Next, sow the seeds in pots or directly into the nursery garden.
If sowing in pots, choose pre-punched 7x12 cm polyethylene bags with drainage holes at the bottom. Fill the bag with clean soil, peat moss, and well-rotted manure (in a ratio of 3 soil : 1 manure). Use a stick to make a hole 0.5 - 1cm deep for the seeds and gently cover it.
During this stage, every 12 to 15 hours, water should be sprayed with a sprinkler or a misting system to avoid displacing the seeds. Additionally, using a shade structure is recommended to limit the impact of rain and sunlight. The plants will sprout and grow after about 7 days of sowing.
